Billy Hallal was born near Cleveland, Ohio. His writing has appeared in venues like The Normal School, Fiction Southeast, and Tallahassee's NPR affiliate station. He has worked in bars, group homes, and adult education classrooms. In 2020, he was awarded an Individual Excellence Award for fiction from the Ohio Arts Council.
Currently, he lives in Lakewood, Ohio and works for an insurance company. He writes freelance on Cleveland food, drink, and history for Thrillist and other publications. He enjoys podcasts, other people's dogs, and generally being stupid and cheerful.
